A Hodge-Podge of Things ...

I thought I'd better post, since tomorrow we will be upgrading our internet connection from dsl to FIOS. For some reason, this upgrade is making me nervous since yesterday Verizon came and dug a trench in our front yard. Selena and I had so much fun watching from the upstairs window! Anyway, in the event that something goes wrong, I am posting today. I don't have too much to write about, as this week has been a whirlwind already. I feel as if I am running behind my whirlwind with arms stretched out in front of me, yelling, "Come back, wait up!" Okay, now I have caused myself to laugh by the visual I just created.

We did have a wonderful time in the sun last weekend. It was so fulfilling to see Selena take in God's beautiful creation.

This morning, Selena woke up with a very swollen top gum. Her upper tooth is starting to poke through, but it just looks so painful. Over the monitor, I can hear her moaning in her sleep. My poor sweetie.

Lastly, I was wondering if any of you have a life verse. My parents gave me a verse when they adopted me. Proverbs 3:5-6 has been on every birthday cake they have given me and on all my cards. It has been the first verse I underlined in every new Bible I've gotten.

My sister, Neesie has Psalm 121 for her life "passage." We recited it to her every night when we kissed her goodnight.

Selena's verse is Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Her name means "light-giver," or "moonlight."
Oh how I pray that she will love her Father in heaven.

She's crying in her crib now --- so I must go!

I hope your new connection works out. I don't trust these high tech things myself. I was never given a life verse, but I suppose if I had to pick one favorite it would be Romans 8:37-39. I just put this passage on my sidebar last week when I was horrified to realize that I had never put a verse there. Hope that little tooth pushes its way out very soon.

Mine given by my parents is 1 Peter 3:18
"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."

Well, I certainly hope the new connection works out, and that your privacy is not invaded TOO badly tomorrow by the installing people (whatever they're called!).

I don't have a life verse, but one that has been the most special to me since I was very young is Psalm 16:11-- "Thou wilt show me the path of life; in Thy presence is fulness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures forever."

I love Lena's verse that you gave her. Uncle Mark and I pray that she will come to love her Father in heaven when she is still very young.

How I would like high-speed connection! I am still on dial-up! :( DSL is not even offered where I live, unless you're willing to pay an arm and a leg for it. We're hoping that will change soon! And no, I don't have a life verse. But I like the idea. I suppose it's never too late to bless my children with one...

I like the idea of having a life verse. I do not have one, but often I feel that God gives me a verse for a certain period of time. And all the time I exactly realise when that certain promise is fullfilled or why it was given, even if it can take months to find out.

Instead of having a life verse I feel that my name that my Mom gave me is a blessing. Helen does mean something like "gracious" and "light" and my Mom told me, she'd chosen it because of my grandma (who was named Helene) and a british Lady calles Helen Keller who was deaf and blind but nevertheless managed to become a teacher and book-author. She wanted me to have a lead motive in life, that no circumstance is to hard that I could not move on and fight.

I was never given a life verse, but this is my favorite..."But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31)
Have a wonderful weekend, and Lord willing see you Sunday!! :)

Corban - "gift devoted to God" from Mark 7:11, speaking of the offerings for the temple that are set apart for God. (middle name is Mark!)

Micah - "who is like the Lord?" to remind us (since he was quite a suprise!) that there is none like our God!

Eliana - "God has answered my prayer" - for a child, a daughter...

No life verses yet, but it isn't too late! Thank you for sharing yours and Selena's - what a beautiful thing!
