No matter where she has been, Selena is always happy to come "homey home." When she talks about her extended family, she wants to know if they are "homey home." I love hearing her happy voice proclaiming that we are home as we turn onto our street.
A book I am reading, Walking with the Women of the Bible by Elizabeth George, says:
"A Christian home is earth's sweetest picture of heaven and a welcome relief in our stressed and weary society..."
We are in the process of organizing our little haven. I must admit, it has been humbling to watch my husband organizing the refrigerator and bedroom closet. I feel like these are things that I should have been on top of. But these are all learning experiences! I thank God that he is so willing to pitch in and help.
Yesterday, Daddy came home early from work. I felt so happy inside as I looked around our home. A thunderstorm was brewing outside, but inside, the flame of a candle danced merrily. As the wind whipped loudly around the house, a pot of salted water started to bubble on the stove. Our version of bolognese sauce was simmering, as the sounds of Lena and Daddy quoting Mary Poppins floated into the kitchen:
Daddy: "If you invest ...
Lena: "... your tuppence wisely in da bank!"
Together: "Safe! and! Sound!" (laughter from both parties)
I knew I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but Homey Home.

Amen. And that's wherever "homey home" may be. I hope she always feels that way, even when many today feel it's time for young people to leave the home. I hope she feels that way until God sends her someone with whom she can build her own "homey home."
That is SO cute!
Sometimes I just wish I could come over for a coffee to your house, I bet we had a great time.
So cute.
I love our own "homey home", too!

Home is a great place to be...

So sweet; so very sweet. :-)
So sweet... my favorite place is "homey home" too.
and what a blessed "Homey Home" she has to grow up in...
Mmmm I love our homey home too. Great that Selena loves to come home, home was one of Henry's first words and he still loves his time here, I think it is his safe and loving haven.
We're trying to organise our home too, and I too have found my husband having to step in - it's hard isn't it I would love to be able to create his perfect haven alone, but I guess that's why we're together to be a team!
We painted our kitchen this weekend - white and i am loving being in it and enjoying a more peaceful colour!
There's no place like home. :) The last part of your post is SOO cute!
Your blog always reads "A Homey Home"

Wonderful post!! I couldn't agree more with Elizabeth George. A Christian home is a little piece of heaven to me. I love my Christian home and wouldn't change it for any other place in this world. Thank you for sharing a little peek into yours. It was great. connie from Texas
